In Wichita, Kansas, investors and builders continue full steam ahead in the construction of Class A apartment complexes despite the improvement in the housing market. The Class A designation is given to newly built complexes that do not benefit from certain tax credits and that commit to high-quality maintenance.
According to real estate stakeholders, the Wichita market will sustain the hundreds of new apartment units that currently are being constructed or planned in the area. In fact, an NAI Martens real estate advisor indicated that the Wichita metropolitan area could absorb many more such units.
The city is due for a construction boom. Since the last such event occurred nearly fifteen years ago, the city’s apartment complexes have begun to show their age.
